Your relationship with your spouse probably started with infatuation, and then it developed into love. You married, invested in your “life together,” and perhaps had children … and then, one of you decided to “move on.”
Now you can leave it up to the “legal system” to decide your future; or, you and your spouse can take control of your lives and make sure that your respective needs will be met; and if you have children, that their family will be the best that it can be.
Mediation is the process by which YOU decide your future — if you and your spouse are not able to negotiate a mutually satisfactory agreement, your and your children’s future will be decided by a judge — a stranger, who does not know you and your family, and who will not have to live with the consequences of the decision.
By mediating your divorce, I will work with you and your spouse to help the two of you to reach an agreement that both of you feel is the best under the circumstances, taking into account your past, your present, and your hoped-for future.
Mediation is often much less adversarial than divorce litigation; it helps you build a new relationship (you will continue to be your children’s parents); it is a private process; and, it can be much less expensive than protracted divorce litigation.
